Music in a Great Space Concert Series Presents a Service of Choral Evensong with Communion
Music in a Great Space, the concert series at Shadyside Presbyterian Church, proudly presents a service of Choral Evensong with communion on Sunday, May 6, at 4:00 p.m.
Due to Shadyside Presbyterian Church’s location within the route of the Pittsburgh Marathon, the church’s service of worship moves from the morning to the afternoon on Sunday, May 6. Conducted by Director of Music Ministry Mark A. Anderson, the Shadyside Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir will lead a Choral Evensong service, an evening prayer liturgy with roots in the Anglican tradition. The service will include communion and a homily from the Reverend James W. Tinnemeyer, Jr.
No tickets are necessary to attend the Choral Evensong service. For more information on the Music in a Great Space series, call 412.682.4300, or visit www.shadysidepres.org.
Shadyside Presbyterian Church is centrally located in the heart of Pittsburgh’s educational/cultural district, just a few blocks away from the campuses of the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie-Mellon University. The church is situated on the corner of Amberson Avenue and Westminster Place, only one block off Fifth Avenue. The church’s 1994 Reuter Organ (opus 2175), capable of playing the full range of organ literature, accompanies the choir and leads the congregation in worship. As an American Classic instrument, it incorporates the German, French, Italian, and English schools of organ building to create an instrument of enormous versatility. The 105-rank organ helps to uphold the highest standards of sacred music and carries that tradition vibrantly into the twenty-first century.
