Bella Voce: Songs of Wind & Waves

Location: Vermont, USA
Voicing: Women
Bella Voce presents a delightful program full of imaginative and engaging selections to top off their 8th season. Like the title promises - the sound and images of wind and waves inspires much of that music. Guest Artist Harpist Rebecca Kauffman joins the chorus in Brahms’ haunting Romantic masterpiece “Four Songs for Women’s Voices, Two Horns and a Harp” and Gustav Holst’s “Spring & Summer.” Much of the “wind” portion of the concert is inspired by “Four Faces of the Wind” a set of four independent pieces by David Stocker. Each piece characterizes experiences or descriptions of the wind. Sandra Milliken’s “Missa Piccola” and Gwyneth Walker’s “Crossing the Bar” will also be on the program. Cantiamo - Bella Voce’s 14-member choir will perform several pieces including “Veniki” - a tongue-twister of a Russian folksong and Bob Chilcott’s “Making Waves” - a unique, ethereal piece commemorating the 100th anniversary of Marconi’s first radio transmission across the ocean.
