Radio Programs focusing on Choral Music?Date: May 4, 2012 Views: 1674
Does anyone know of any radio programs which focus on choral music. Ideally I'm looking for something that has a Music History / Musicology bend to it (i.e. people talking about Choral Music then playing illustrative examples). I'm NOT interested in programs which focus on choral music for exclusively religious purposes.

Matt,
The Washington DC classical station (90.9 - WETA) does a weekly show called Choral Showcase at 9:00 pm on Sundays, and broadcasts opera on Saturdays (From the Met during their weekly broadcasts, from other opera houses the other weeks of the year). In addition, they have an online station called Viva la Voce. While the focus is usually on the music, they talk some about the history of pieces they air.

Matt,
Try Inspired Voices which airs on Sundays at noon, repeated at 8:00 pm on WKYL, 102.1 out of Lexington/Lawrenceburg, KY. It can be streamed going to http://weku.fm , scrolling down, and clicking on the Classic 102.1 option arrow on the right. Rick

You may only care for American shows, but the CBC in Canada
airs Choral Concert every Sunday morning (when all the choral
musicians are in church!) on Radio 2.
