Choral Masterworks Course

Hello all,
I'm a junior in working on my undergrad degree in music education. I need another hour in my course load in the fall so our choral conductor has offered to teach an independent study course for me. We're both thinking about doing a survey of major works for choir. Does anyone have any experience with similar courses?
Thanks,
Clay

Clay:  That's more or less a Choral Literature course, and it would depend on the extent to which you would actually be looking and and/or analyzing pieces.

My suggestion for an Independent Study would actually be to narrow the scope either to a single historic period, which you might have some chance of actually covering, or to a single major choral-orchestral work (the Brahms Requien comes to mind as an example) and doing a really in-depth analysis.  But that depends on what your professor thinks would do you the most good.
All the best,
John
