The Junior and Senior Choirs of the Pennsylvania Youth Chorale will present a 35th Anniversary Spring Concert entitled "Songs Without Borders" at the Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral, 3723 Chestnut St. Philadelphia, PA on Sat. May 19, 2012 at 7:30pm.
The program will take the audience on a musical journey from New York and the sounds of Broadway ("New York, New York", "Do Re Mi", "Over the Rainbow") to selections by our neighbors in Canada and then to more distant shores in Europe, Africa, South America and the Netherlands. The program returns home with songs by PA composer, Nancy Gifford and ends with the well known "What a Wonderful World". In addition to works by Canadian composers Ruth Watson Henderson and Eleanor Daley and by French composer Gabriel Faure, the children will also perform folk songs in French, Portuguese and Swahili. Members of the alumni will join the senior choir in their traditional performance of "Blessing" by Katie Moran Bart.
Admission: $10 adult; $5 children under 12
