The Garden of Delights - Madrigals and Part Songs in Pacific GroveDate: May 30, 2012 Views: 1237 Location: California, USA
Madregalia!! presents "The Garden of Delights" on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 3 PM at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 12th and Central in Pacific Grove. The concert features music from Hans Leo Hassler's "Lustgarten" along with a variety of works from around Europe that celebrate earthly delights. There will be three pieces in cori spezzati style, for the Renaissance stereo effect. Of particular interest is the love song "Mein g'mueth ist mir verwirret" by Hassler, which is the basis for the so called "Passion Chorale" in J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion. The singers will be joined by the Pastyme Consort playing dances by Caroubel, Gervaise, Holborne and De La Torre on violins and viols. Our program:
