Bucks County Choral Society and Voices Chorale - will joining forces to create a magnificent 150 voice choir for a collaborative concert on Sunday evening, June 10 in Princeton. The program, entitled “Cathedral Classics” will take place at the Princeton University Chapel, under the auspices of the Princeton Festival. “Cathedral Classics” begins at 7:30 p.m., with an organ prelude beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Poulenc’s joyous and playful Gloria is the featured work on a program which also includes Handel’s Coronation Anthem No. 4, Barber’s Agnus Dei, and classic choral selections from Howells, Bairstow, and Rachmaninoff. Artistic directors Thomas Lloyd (BCCS) and Lyn Ransom (Voices) will each conduct portions of the program, and soprano Jane Kamp sings the solo sections of the Gloria.
The choral concert is preceded by an organ prelude from John Andrew Bailey, Cathedral Organist at the Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral. Bailey’s prelude pieces will include rarely heard works from Nigerian master composer Fela Sowande, played on the Princeton University Skinner organ.
