What's up with the ChoralNet/ACDA downtime(s)?Date: June 18, 2012 Views: 2084
Inquiring minds would like to know why ChoralNet.org and
ACDA.org have both been going "down" and "up" and then "down" and
"up" again since last Friday. It would also be very appropriate
to post something to that effect in
ChoralNet
Administratve Announcements.
It's not just idle curiosity. I've just recently been
recommending to my state ACDA chapter that we move our web
presence into our ChoralNet Community and the extended periods of
server problems are making that recommendation look less
adviseable. An explanation of what's gone wrong and what's being
proactively done to assure better site reliability would be very
welcome at this point.

I noticed today the same phenomenon.

Well, after a number of rocky and even entirely down days, ChoralNet appears to be back up, thanks to hard work by Martin Knowles, ChoralNet's Manager. When he has a chance, I think he'll fill us in on what's been going on. Until this last few days, ChoralNet's "uptime" has been absolutely stellar. Unfortunately, the ACDA site sill appears to be offline.

A further development on this is that I have received two different copies of my "Daily" and "Subscriptions" email messages from ChoralNet today--one from the old server in OK City and one from a (temporary?) server in Seattle, WA. Perhaps that will only happen today, and someone will turn the OKC server off?
