VII Concert "MOLTO ALLEGRO" by Cantoria Hipponnensis, Valencia, Spain
Date: June 21, 2012
Choir type: Other Choirs
It is June again and we are approaching Cantoria Hipponensis' VII "Molto Allegro" Concert as the culmination of our 2011-2012 coral course. In an effort to try and deliver a broad range of musical and coral styles, this year Cantoria Hipponensis is offering a visit to Spanish popular music (See program below).
We will deliver a first part called "Roaming the Lands of Spain" where we will offer 10 popular songs from 9 Spanish regions (as we will dedicate 2 songs to our little homeland, Valencia). The second part will offer several pieces from different "Zarzuelas" (Spanish traditional opperetta-like popular music) and for it, we will count with soprano Ms Susana Martínez-Cotillas, tenor Mr Antonio Gómez Cano and we will be be accompanied by Prof. Arturo Barba in the piano.
The whole concert will be conducted by Ms Inmaculada Burriel Montoro, our incumbent conductor.
This year, the concert will take place at the concert hall of the prestigious "Ateneo Mercantil", an entity founded in 1878 "to attend the cultural and education needs of the employees of the Commerce sector in Valencia", that will highlight the special composition of this year's program which we think will be an enjoyable journey across Spain's popular music.
