Come to New York City in the summer of 2013 to participate in an international choir festival that will be as meaningful as it is memorable. "The Rhythms of One World" festival, which will be held June 2013, with a Choral Celebration at Lincoln Center Avery Fisher Hall, and a closing concert at UN Headquarters, celebrating the anniversary of the signing of the UN charter, week-long individual choir concerts in iconic venues in Manhattan, networking events, and exchange-type workshops in the city. This festival is unique from others as it focuses not only on great performances, but on promoting peace and cultural exchange through music.

 

A SUCCESSFUL DEBUT for the world premiere of “The Rhythms of One World International Choral Festival.” Headlined as New York’s LARGEST global choral event, 7 legendary choirs from South Africa, Luxembourg, Canada, Trinidad & Tobago, Australia, Norway and USA performing to large and appreciative audiences in NYC all week, from June 25 – June 30, 2012.

"The Rhythms of One World 2013" Festival invites youth and adult choirs from all nations that perform programs that include choral works in folklore, regional sacred, contemporary and national pop music to participate in this rare opportunity – this is your chance to get to know and experience the incredibly culturally diverse city of New York, meet other renowned choir directors, and share in the culture of fellow choristers from the world over. Sing in the UN and other world-class venues in New York City and be part of celebrating cultural diversity and mutual understanding through choral singing. 

The festival is led by Emmy Award winning composer, arranger and choral conductor Gary Fry, who serves as the Festival Artistic Director. Mr. Fry has composed for film, television, live theater, ballet, more than 2500 radio and television commercials, and received a 2006 Emmy Award for his work for Chicago's CBS affiliate WBBM-TV. Significant credits include his position as arranger/composer for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Welcome, Yule! Holiday concerts since 1996, artistic consultant to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for their annual Christmas Celebration concerts, and nearly 100 commissions for Christmas and holiday music from those orchestras and others from around the nation. Gary also has a passion for working with young people, particularly in choral music. Children’s choirs under his direction have performed at the White House, the United Nations, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and Carnegie Hall.

“The Rhythms of One World 2013” is a project of Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, Inc. (FAF; www.faf.org), a UN-affiliated NGO with a 39-year legacy of promoting cultural exchange through the performing arts.
