Grammy Winner to Direct Children’s Choir

ELLSWORTH, ME -- Grammy Award-winning composer and musician Paul Sullivan will direct the new Downeast Kids Chorus under the auspices of The Grand. Rehearsals begin Oct. 18 and are open to all children ages 8 to 14.

Funded in part the first year by the Quimby Family Foundation, the newly established chorus forms part of the landmark theater’s educational program for youth in the Downeast region.

Sullivan, who lives in Brooklin, continues to play with the Paul Winter Consort and has performed with legendary orchestras such as the Boston Pops and in venues as diverse as the famed jazz club The Village Vanguard and Leonard Bernstein’s living room. As a composer, his work is equally wide ranging, from the Rockettes to Pilobolus Dance Theater.
