FLORENCE, SC -- The Masterworks Choir of Florence announced it now has a new director – only the second in its 34-year history. Dr. William Carswell, friend and music colleague of the late and beloved William B. Mills, founder of the Masterworks Choir, was appointed Music Director and Conductor of the ensemble.
Carswell is an Associate Professor of Music, Director of Choral Studies, and Chair of the Department of Dance, Music & Theatre at Coker College in Hartsville. In addition to conducting the Coker Singers and Coker Chamber Singers, he teaches courses in choral literature, choral conducting and music education. Carswell recently completed five seasons as Music Director and Conductor of the Columbia Choral Society in Columbia. He has appeared as a clinician, guest conductor or adjudicator across the Southeastern United States, as well as in Austria, Bulgaria, England and France. |
