Expert to guide 'hard-working' choir

PLYMOUTH, UK -- THE Military Wives Choir in Plymouth is getting some help to cope with their punishing performance schedule.

Singing coach Sandra Smith is holding her first session with the choir at their weekly rehearsal in the Citadel in Plymouth tonight. She will be working on breathing and singing techniques.  "They are the most hard-working choir in the country," Sandra said.

"Most choirs give a few concerts but these women – and their musical director Rob Young – are performing four times a month.  "Many of the women have children and jobs and now they are having to travel to London for concerts.

"It's high-pressure stuff – television, the Royal Albert Hall. They are doing some of the biggest gigs in the country.  "They put out a lot of effort for a lot of charities and this is a chance to get some support from someone who can help to prevent them from becoming vocally tired."
