Just ran accross this one.  It is for SA and, though not sacred, the text is about a butterfly (a symbol of resurrection) and the text is from the perspective of an older person looking on the younger child.  It is beautifully done.   If still interested here's the link to Julia Laylander's "Butterfly." http://www.choralmelodies.com/uploads/Butterfly_SA___Strings_for_Website.pdf and her website: http://www.choralmelodies.com/

Hey, Scott...I'd suggest a sacred anthem..."Offertory" by John Ness Beck w/ string quartet.  Available from Beckenhorst Press.
Great piece!

I think Ola Gjeilo's piece called "The Ground" uses a string quartet and piano.

Ave Verum Corpus, by Mozart.   There are several "editions" of this on cpdl, many with string parts included.

I would also recommend "Offertory" by John Ness Beck, suggested by Stephen above.  It is a divine piece!  AND both the Mozart and the Beck pieces can also be performed with choir and organ or piano for accompaniment (instead of strings), so they are very useful additions to a church library.

The Ave Verum and Beck pieces are great recommendatons.  Another short but effective piece is Mary Smisek's "Kyrie," which is an arrangement of the 2nd movement of Beethoven's Symphony no. 7, available from GIA Publications:

It's SAB, can be done with piano or organ, with a C instrument, or with string quartet.  The listing on the GIA page is incorrect; the string parts are in the octavo.

Yes, I'd like to recommend Joseph's Carol by David Lewis Crosby - for SATB, string quartet, handbells and harp - would make a lovely addition to the season of Advent, Christmas or St.Joseph's Feast Day - you can looking at the music here..

There is an arrangement of "Be Thou My Vision" by Alice Parker, which is scored for harp and string quartet, though the piano can easily supply the harp part (and organ or paino the strings part for that matter). Don't recall the publisher but can look it up for you if you wish. Might be Hinshaw...

My arrangement of Holst's Thaxted tune with All Glory, Laud and Honor has been very popular with choirs, and has free parts available for strings:

Also, I'd be excited to write something new for this combination. I can be contacted at mryan(a)choirworks.com
