The mission of the ACDA is to inspire excellence in choral music through education, performance, composition, and advocacy.

Jack of All Trades...

I just got back from a photo shoot for a campaign we are putting together to bring more men into our program. At the shoot, I had 10 ties of various types, safety pins, binder clips, studs and cufflinks, and extra jacket buttons. I was pinning coats and tying ties all over the place. The photographer said "So now you are the stylist for the choir too?" So, I'm adding stylist to the list of things I need to be good at to do my job. I think I've seen a list like this floating around choralnet before, but I thought it might be good to revisit it. Please chime in with your thoughts. I'm sure I missed something.

With my semi-professional chamber choir:
Inclusion facilitator (for those with wheelchairs and walkers-- who have had accidents just in time for our concert!)
Traffic coordinator (as in concert dates conflicting with their own choirs concerts--as well as rehearsals--I have used spread sheets in the past)
Health consultant (helps to be married to an ENT)
Property manager (as in Props---for our concert with operetta chorues)
Agent/Manager (we do have the occassional paying gig)
General Nag (self explanatory)
For my children's choirs of the past:
Nose wiper (self explanatory)
Stage Mama handler (No, Cassidy CANNOT sing that Brittney Spears song for our holiday concert!)
The Comfortor and Tear Wiper General (I always had one child who was afraid to go on stage--right before we had to go on stage!)

While reading all of these I can't help but think "control freak" would be a good addition.  Including myself of course!

Nice! I don't think it's possible not to be a bit of a control freak. Comes with the territory.
