John Bell Worship Colloquium in NYC, Saturday October 20

Composer and song leader John Bell will be in residence at Park Avenue Christian Church ( over the weekend of October 20 and 21st. He serves the Iona Community in Scotland (, an ecumenical community of progressive Christians based in Glasgow, and is known the world over for his musical gifts. If you’ve sung or heard The Summons, Don’t Be Afraid, Be Still and Know That I Am God, He Came Down, or We Cannot Measure How You Heal, you’ve sung one of many pieces that John has composed or arranged.
On Saturday, October 20 he will present a worship symposium focusing on ways to strengthen congregational song in our faith communities and introducing worship music from around the world.
Session I: 10:30 am-12 pm – Why Do God’s People Sing?
Lunch: 12-1:30 pm
Session II: 1:30-3 pm – Singing With the Global Church
