Deadline Extended - Cerddorion Vocal Ensemble Emerging Composers Composition Competition

The Cerddorion Vocal Ensemble is pleased to announce its first Emerging Composers Competition, designed to foster the creation and performance of new a cappella works for mixed chorus.

Application Form -

Submission Guidelines
Scored for SATB, a cappella (some divisi acceptable)
Approximately 3-5 minutes in length
Sacred text, any language (provide translations for languages other than English)
Unpublished and unperformed
Submission of midi realizations is encouraged, but not required.

Works will be premiered in March 2013 as part of a program entitled “Mourning and Evening,” featuring Victoria’s Requiem, a 6 and Brahms’s Drei Gesänge, Op. 42. Some preference may be given to compositions that relate to this theme.

Composers should be in the early stages of their professional careers, without substantial publishing credit, national awards or commissions. There is no age limit. Submissions from international applicants are welcome.

1st Prize – $250 and performance, archival recording
2nd Prize – performance and archival recording
The judges reserve the right not to award a prize.

Submission Requirements:

Application Deadline: November 20th, 2012.
Winner(s) will be notified by January 1st, 2013.
Performances will take place in Brooklyn and Manhattan in March 2013. Composers are invited and encouraged to attend the performances but we cannot provide funds for travel or accommodations.
