Cantoria Hipponensis visit Union Musical de Liria
Date: October 31, 2012
The "Union Musical de Liria" in Valencia (Spain) is a music society founded in October 8th 1903as a follow up of the existing band group "Musica Nova" with origins back in the XIX century. Currently has 1500 partners. One of the musical sections is the choir "Cor Social Unió Musical". For Cantoría Hipponensis, now some 8 years of age was a honour and a pleasure to attend their invitation and sing with them at a joint concert in the Valencian city of Líria (ancient name Edeta, with roots back as long as 4000 years ago), that took place last Saturday Oct 27th. Cor Social Unió Musical delivered a diverse program including Maurice Duruflé, Mozart and Verdi. Cantoría Hipponensis performed pieces from its renowned concert "Wandering the lands of Spain" recently delivered in Valencia and Murcia, that included pieces of the traditional Spanish folklore and "Zarzuela". El Cor Social Unió Musical was conducted by Francesc Gamón Olmo, and Cantoria Hipponensis was conducted by Inmaculada Burriel Montoro. Professor Arturo Barba, accompanied both choirs at the piano.
The "ansamble" of both choirs with their diverse programs, with a blend of old tradition and fresh history was a perfect recipee for an ejoyable evening, rewarded by the audience with long clappings.
