Clinician: Dr. Walker is a renowned composer/arranger and a graduate of Brown University and the Hartt School of Music. She holds B.A., M.M. and D.M.A. Degrees in Music Composition and is a former faculty member of the Oberlin College Conservatory. She resigned from academic employment in 1982 in order to pursue a career as a full-time composer. For nearly 30 years she lived on a dairy farm in Braintree, Vermont but has now returned to her childhood hometown of New Canaan, Connecticut.
Dr. Walker's catalog includes over 200 commissioned works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, chorus and solo voice. The works are published by E.C. Schirmer (choral music/voice) and Lauren Keiser music (orchestral/instrumental). Recent works include two new SATB choral/orchestral sets: The Morning Train (songs about trains) and Apha and Omega (Christmas songs). Enjoying her New England heritage, Gwyneth Walker has composed a new setting of the Longfellow poem, The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere, to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the town of Lexington, Massachusetts in 2013. Closer to home, Dr. Walker composed a special commission for the 2011 Summit Music Festival and the Ocean Grove Choral Festival.
