NY-ACDA Winter Conference Day and Young Men's Festival Choir

Join NY-ACDA and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus for a Winter Conference Day on Saturday, February 9, 2013! This exciting day will include workshop sessions, an opportunity to learn new music for your choruses, and a special concert featuring the Young Men’s Festival Choir (grades 7, 8, 9 and featuring the Young Men’s Ensemble of the Brooklyn Youth Chorus) led by guest conductors Randal Swiggum and Margaret Jenks and guest artists, Brooklyn Youth Chorus and Hofstra University Chamber Choir, and meet and network with your New York City area colleagues!
The schedule overview of the day includes:
9:00-9:30 am - Registration/check-in at the Brooklyn Youth Chorus 
9:30-9:45 am - Conference Welcome
9:45-11:00 am - First Impressions: Introducing a Tough-Sell Piece: Open Rehearsal of the Young Men’s Festival Choir            
11:10 am-12:00 pm - Expression and Engagement in Performance
12:00-12:50 pm - Lunch (provided for those register prior to Feb. 1)
1:00-1:50 pm - Reading Sessions
2:00-3:20 pm - Cross-choral TrainingTM with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus
3:30-4:45 pm - Conducting Masterclass, David Fryling and the Hofstra University Chamber Choir
4:45 pm - Afternoon Break and travel to Roulette Theatre
6:00 pm - Concluding Concert Featuring BYC’s Concert Chorus and Young Men’s Ensemble, Hofstra University Chamber Choir and the Young Men’s Festival Choir
Conductors are invited to nominate young male singers with changed, changing and unchanged voices in grades 7, 8, or 9! See the nomination form for more information. We hope you will encourage your young men to participate in this inaugural festival choir!
