New Choral Music from Mexico

During the 2013 National Conference ACDA will be pleased to present the interest session . . .

New Choral Music from Mexico
Clinician: Philip Brunelle
Demonstration Choir: VocalEssence

Saturday, March 16, 9:15 a.m. in the City Performance Hall

For the past five years, VocalEssence through its ¡Cantaré! program has brought choral composers from Mexico to Minnesota to be in residence at elementary and high schools, composing music for young people that is premiered each May in a concert by the students. The composers also give the students a first-hand picture of life in Mexico today. Their music, using Spanish texts and with English translations, is now available through the recent launch of VocalEssence Music Press, an online publishing service.  During this session, Philip Brunelle and the VocalEssence Ensemble Singers will demonstrate select pieces for elementary and high school choir available from VocalEssence Music Press, with several of the composers traveling from Mexico to share in the session.
