Good morning, colleagues of the Eastern Division,

Season's greetings to you on this cold and wintry morning. Over the past week, our nation and world were horrified by the senseless shooting that took place in Connecticut. As music educators, this random act of violence directly violates the fundamentals that we teach and model for our students. In this season of giving, let us take time to remember with gratitude the work done by our fellow members every day to forward the choral art. Let us also make time to begin the healing of our own minds as we prepare ourselves for our next rehearsals, whether they are in classrooms, community centers or places of worship.

As a gift, please take time to listen to this fine performance of There Will Be Rest by Frank Ticheli, as conducted by the composer and performed by the Georgia State University Singers in 2011:
