SMARTBoard & recording tech

Are there any good SMARTBoard applications out there for use with chorus?  I need some interactive ones (and ones that will make the kids more "interactive" if you get my drift.)  Not everyone in chorus wants to be there, so I need some hooks.  I've already used a virtual keyboard along with glockenspiels to try to begin hands on sight reading; they just didn't get it with just a staff and their voices.  Also, I'm reading a lot about folks using different software for making rehearsal tracks.  What are the benefits to the ones you use?  I got some Belkin headphone splitters and I plan to use tracks to teach and rehearse individual parts in groups, but I also need to know what equipment to buy:  Should I use CD's and CD players, or MP3's - sounds like lots of battery power there....  Suggestions?  So far, I've just made CD's and used 3 CD players, but I'm planning to add more stations and need more players.
