DePaul University Choirs and Chamber Orchestra

Location: Illinois, USA
Choir type: College and University Choirs
Voicing: Mixed
The DePaul University choirs will collaborate with the DePaul Chamber Orchestra for a performance of choral/orchestral works on Saturday, February 9th, 8pm at the DePaul Concert Hall, 800 W. Belden Ave, on the Lincoln Park campus in Chicago. The program is as follows:
Johannes Brahms, "Gesang der Parzen" (Song of the Fates)
Johannes Brahms, "Rhapsodie" (Alto Rhapsody), featuring Jane Bunnell, mezzo-soprano.
Gustav Holst, "Hymns from the Rig-Veda, Group II"
Ralph Vaughan Williams, "Toward the Unknown Region"
Steve Grives and Michael Lewanski will conduct.
If I were better at marketing and promotion I would call this concert "Uncommon Gems." With exception of the Alto Rhapsody, the pieces are not frequently performed, and, and various times, beautiful, powerful, transcendant, know, all of the things good music should be.
Most importantly, the concert is free and open to the public.
