COACC Choral Festival (Remembering Sandy Hook)

Location: California, USA
Choir type: Choirs with Religious Affiliation
Voicing: Mixed
On Saturday, April 6 at 4 p.m. City of Angels Community Choirs is sponsoring a choral festival honoring the community of Sandy Hook at Forest Lawn Memorial Park’s Hall of Liberty in Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA. Adult and children’s choirs from Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley are welcome.  Featured that evening will be a combined choirs’ performance of Kurt Bestor’s, Prayer of the Children synced with a video of the families and community of Sandy Hook. The aim of this event is to bring some measure of healing to the community of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

This is open to the public and admission is free. There will be, however, a free-will offering later in the festival to go toward the purchase of a 2 octave hand bell choir to be presented to the Sandy Hook community. Inscribed on each of the bells will be the name of one of the Sandy Hook victims. These bells have been promised to St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown, Connecticut, parish home to many of the Sandy Hook children. We assert that when these bells are performed the various names will resonate with a ring pitch perfect heavenward.

The City of Angels Community Choirs is a not-for-profit organization 501(c)3 whose purpose is to heighten the interest of the performing arts in our community, offer extraordinary performances to our audiences and provide unforgettable world-class musical opportunities to the aspiring performer.
Included in our mission is our desire to gap the bridge between our organization and the community at large, wherever we may be able to serve a worthy need.
