Fascinatin' Rhythm: Young Women's Chorus of SF collaborates with body percussionist Keith Terry and Crosspulse

Location: California, USA

The Young Women's Chorus of San Francisco, Susan McMane Artistic Director, collaborates with Keith Terry, a percussionist and rhythm dancer whose work encompasses music, dance, theater, and performance art. As a self-defined “body musician,” Terry uses the oldest musical instrument in the world — the human body (his own) — as the basis for exploring, blending and bending traditional and contemporary rhythmic, percussive and movement possibilities. Keith will work with the young women of YWCP to create a unique program accompanied by his ensemble Crosspulse. Repertoire will be diverse from traditional, jazz and contemporary sources.

National Public Radio says of Keith Terry’s performances, “...a crossing of cultures, a blurring of boundaries at its most sensitive, most humanistic, and most magical.”

"Working with Keith Terry has introduced us to a completely new form of music that unites us similarly to the way we are united with our voices. It's tricky, but once you hear the rhythms fit together, you experience the same chills you get when listening to a chorus that truly feels the music, not just sings it."
