Horizon Chamber Choir and Players
This season, California native Kelley O’Connor’s impressive calendar includes John Adams’s The Gospel According to the Other Mary in a world premiere staging by Peter Sellars performed in America and Europe with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Gustavo Dudamel’s baton, and a role debut as Suzuki in Madama Butterfly in a new production by Lillian Groag at Boston Lyric Opera. Concert appearances include a broad range repertoire from Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony to Lieberson’s Neruda Songs with some of the world’s top orchestras, including the National Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra.
Founded in 2010, the Horizon Chamber Choir has quickly established itself as one of Los Angeles’ premier vocal ensembles. Specializing in the music of J.S. Bach, the 2011-2012 season included collaborations with the Bach Collegium San Diego (St. John Passion) and the Cincinnati Boychoir (Bach cantatas). This season, the choir led by music director Christian Campos will be a featured guest ensemble at the Los Angeles Bach Festival and the Long Beach Bach Festival. Members of the group regularly perform with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Master Chorale, and Pacific Chorale. The Horizon Chamber Choir is one of two resident ensembles of the Horizon Music Group.
