Middle School Musical

I am a director of in my middle school's drama department. We are coming off a HUGELY successful performance of Disney's "Little Mermaid Jr." which was well received by the community (sold out all shows). We enjoyed doing this show and it was a real crowd pleaser. We have done Disney shows for the past several years (Beauty and the Beast Jr., Mulan Jr., Little Mermaid Jr.) and we LOVE doing them because they are popular with the kids and they bring in community families to our show.  However, we are concerned about doing a 4th Disney show in a row. We are looking for suggestions for middle school shows that will be popular with the community as well as our student actors and actresses.  Any suggestions?

My eighth graders recently performed  "Guys and Dolls Jr.".  It is great show which features dancing, fun comedic opportunities and terrific songs.  I used girls as gamblers and as missionaries.  We also watched the movie with Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando to get the feel of the times.

Jeri,
Thanks for the input, however our high school just did the full version of this 2 years ago, so I don't know if we should pull the trigger on that one this soon.  I agree... it is a very fun show!

I love this show, and was thinking about it for my kids next year, but I am concerned it might not be appropriate at a Catholic school.  How much do they keep of the original Adelaide storyline?
