Translations in Program

Hello All,

What is the proper way to cite a translation in a program note - is a simple "translated by" sufficient?

If you «lifted» the translation from a published source it may be copyright in which case you might want to get permission to use it unless it's so old you're certain it has become Public Domain.    If it was INCLUDED in the edition of the music you're using, and you have all the proper clearances to publicly perform the music, you should be fine to just print it verbatim (perhaps noting in the fine print where it came from).  If someone local did the translation for you it's usual to print a simple (translated by: NNNNN) as a nice program acknowledgement.
