DC group?

Hi - I have an old student who is working as a journalist in Washington DC.  She is is interested in getting involved with a choral group and doesn't know where to turn.  She ad years as an All State choir member and was a music minor at Tufts University.  She's looking for a community based group of some substance.  Does anyone have suggestions and ways to get in touch with groups that might be of interest to her?

Thanks so much,

Hi Randi,

Have her call me at my office (202-885-3427). DC is filled with all kinds of choirs -- large to small, specific rep to general, symphonic and otherwise. I would be happy to tell her about what is here and connect her with the right group for her interest. I like to tell folks that we have a choir on every street corner and that might not inaccurate!

Randi - what type of music is she interested in?  That may help focus her search.  I personally direct an a cappella, sacred music, service choir - which may NOT be her cup of tea.  On the other hand, if this is something she'd like to be involved in, have her contact me either by e-mail (ronart.assoc(a)cox.net) or at (703) 362-5373.  Even if we're not the ones she would like to sing with, I can perhaps advise her about some of the groups in the area (I live just outside the District in Northern Virginia, and have a fair number of contacts I can help her reach.)

Chantez bien!

Hello Randi,
I would be happy to help this person. There are a large number of fine choral groups in the DC area and many UMD alums take part in them.
