The Cecilia Chorus of New York - Ethel Smyth Mass in D (1893) - New York premiere

On Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Carnegie Hall, the Cecilia Chorus of New York will give the long-overdue New York premiere of the magnificent Mass in D by British compoesr Dame Ethel Smyth, 120 years after its first performance in 1893.  Mark Shapiro conducts the Cecilia Chorus of New York, with orchestra, the LIU Post Chorus, and soloists Felicia Moore, Heather Johnson, Eric Barry, and Matthew Trevino.  Mark Shapiro conducts.  Soprano soloist Felicia Moore was recently named a winner of the 2013 George London Competition.  Also on the program: two scenes from Tchaikovsky's The Maid of Orleans.  Tickets at carnegiehall.org, or from Carnegiecharge at 212-247-7800, or in person at the Carnegie Hall box office on 7th Avenue at 57th Street.  More at ceciliachorusny.org.
