‘The New Choral Singers’ is a 60-strong, mixed choir under the direction of Robert Calleja. Established in 1994, the choir has gradually expanded its musical repertoire to include items of increasing technical difficulty. These include compositions from the Renaissance period through to works of our time, by celebrated composers such as Tallis, Mozart, Charpentier, Haydn, Vivaldi, and Rutter to mention a few.
The choir has had the privilege of performing at select venues both locally and overseas such as the Metropolitan Cathedral in Mdina, the Manoel Theatre in Valletta, and the Basilica of St Francis of Assisi in Italy.
The Choir is renowned as one of the foremost polyphonic vocal ensembles in Malta particularly in view of the fact that it frequently lends itself to the animation of various events including fund raising activities for philanthropic organisations, corporate events, concert performances and participation in national festivals. The singers also enjoy close and fruitful working relationships with a number of composers and leading musicians on the island, including the Malta Philarmonic Orchestra, and have also collaborated with a number of foreign choirs.
