2014 Rhythms of One World International Choral Festival in Switzerland
Date: April 12, 2013
Location: New York, USA
Participate in our upcoming 2014 Rhythms of One World Internaitonal Choral Festival in Geneva, Switzerland, home of the United Nations in Europe. This could be an exciting starting point for your European concert tour, if you are considering competing at the upcoming 2014 World Choir Games in Riga.
“The Rhythms of One World” International Choral Festival is a global event which premiered in June 24-30, 2012 (RhythmsofOneWorld.org). 2012’s inaugural festival saw international choirs from seven countries, drawing participants and an audience from five different continents. In 2013, a Special Edition will focus on US groups in New York City to celebrate cultural diversity and mutual understanding through artistic exchange, specifically through choral singing.
Here is a brief overview of our festival:
Slated for June 24-30 in Switzerland, the 2014 Festival celebrates the anniversary of the signing of the original UN Charter: “We the Peoples” (June 26, 1945).
Here is a video clip of last year's finale concert at the UN General Assembly Hall in New York: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leY6DMLJbgo
And a New York Times article about our concert at Avery Fisher Hall:
In Switzerland, we will have two massed choir performances and each choir will have their own individual concert performance during the Festival. There will also be workshops and rehearsals with renowned composers, conductors and clinicians, such as Gary Fry, the Festival Artistic Director, and directors of participating choirs. This Festival will also open up exchange opportunities with other participating choirs.
Registration deadline for priority consideration is on June 14, 2013. Spots are very limited as we are seeking one high caliber choir per continent, so we strongly recommend you to apply today!
