The Occidental Community Choir is seeking a new Music Director. The choir meets Wednesday evenings from 7:30 – 10 p.m. from January thru the end of May, with a few Monday rehearsals before concert season. We perform a 5 or 6 concert series in both May and early December. There is also a one day retreat in October, and a 2 day retreat in April that the director is responsible to prepare for and conduct.

The OCC is a bit unusual in that the choir members collaboratively write and arrange some of the music themselves; and in cooperation with the music director, a program committee helps choose the music for the performances. These meetings are scheduled outside of rehearsal time.

Part of the music director’s job is to encourage and review new compositions by choir members and provide feedback, so a background in composition is important.

Pay is $12,000 year, paid monthly . Over the summer, there are some meetings to plan the next season’s program.
