Recordings of Performances for Class ReviewDate: April 16, 2013 Views: 370
Dear Friends,
The Oregon MEA board is apparently leaning towards a VERY strict reading of copyright law and is no longer allowing ANYONE to record performances of events except for the "designated" recorder. This came up at a recent festival at which the festival organizer had hired someone to record the event for directors to submit to the state activities association for consideration towards competing at the state contest. I had a former student who was set to record our performance to review the next day in class and she was ordered to stop recording. As well, an annoncement was made before each choir got up to sing that no recordings were to be made.
And, as a side note, the "professional" videographer missed the first 90 seconds of our performance . . .
Anyways, I would appreciate hearing how you handle or have handled this--thanks!
