Cathedral Schola — Positions for Professional Choral Singers

Location: Joliet, Illinois, USA
The Cathedral of Saint Raymond Nonnatus in Joliet, Illinois seeks experienced singers in all voice parts for its resident professional Cathedral Schola.  The Schola forms the core of the Cathedral Choir, and members serve as section leaders in the larger ensemble.  The Cathedral Schola also sings as a stand-alone ensemble on occasion, and repertoire spans the centuries from Medieval chant to the finest sacred choral music of our own time.

Interested singers should have the training and ability to sing a wide range of choral repertoire with a warm vocal tone relatively free of vibrato, and must have excellent musical, sight-reading, tuning, and interpersonal skills.  There are generally two choral calls per week, including Thursday evening rehearsal and Sunday morning rehearsal & liturgy, plus extra calls for large diocesan liturgical events throughout the year.  The Cathedral is located less than an hour from downtown Chicago, and the stipend per choral call is highly competitive.

Additional stipended opportunities abound for Cathedral Schola members who wish to serve as cantors for weddings, funerals, and regular parish liturgies.
