Peninsula Girls Chorus Seeks Choral Director

Location: Burlingame, California, USA
Choral Director Position, Peninsula Girls Chorus
Burlingame, CA

Now embarking on it’s 20th year of “helping young girls find their voices”, The Peninsula Girls Chorus, a 220-member distinguished and innovative choral program for young women, has opened a search for a choral director for its beginning level choir, Repertoire, beginning September 2013.   Repertoire is the first of five levels of choruses offered at the PGC.
Repertoire welcomes singers between the ages of 6 and 8 years old. This chorus level introduces the young singer to the fundamentals of choral singing.  Choristers learn the basics of music literacy and sight-reading skills as well as the development of a firm foundation for proper singing technique.  Singers also begin learning foreign language repertoire and explore historical knowledge of musical selections.  There are 45-60 singers at this choir level, divided among Repertoire 1, which meets on Tuesday afternoons from 4-5:30 PM and Repertoire 2, which meets on Tuesday evenings from 5:45-7:15 PM, September through June.
