On St George's Day, the English song 'Jerusalem'Date: April 23, 2013 by Fraser Wilson ![]() Views: 335 Voicing: Mixed
'Jerusalem' is famous from the Last Night of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Beautiful words by William Blake are set to a stirring melody by C.H.H. Parry. Many people feel that this song should replace 'God save the Queen' as the National Anthem.
It's usually heard played by full symphony orchestra and sung by a choir of thousands, but Albion have arranged it simply and intimately for unaccompanied voices, and here is their atmospheric performance of it. Enjoy!
