Auditions for the Harford Choral Society

Location: Bel Air, Maryland, USA
The Harford Choral Society, based in Bel Air, MD and affiliated with Harford Community College, will be holding auditions for volunteer singers for the 2013-14 season on two Tuesday evenings, September 3 and 10, in connection with the regular 7:00 p.m. rehearsal time. All voice parts are welcome. Singers need not be trained vocalists but are expected to be able to read music, and should be prepared for the following audition elements:

  • Pitch-matching
  • A short prepared piece, such as an art song or aria, or a hymn melody or other musical passage consistent with standard choral repertory
  • Sight-reading of an extract from a choral score

Auditions may also be scheduled at any time by appointment, as described at http://www.harfordchoralsociety.org/singWithUs.html

The Harford Choral Society under Music Director Dr. William Spencer presents two-three full concerts per season, as well as occasional smaller-scale runout performances. Recent repertory has included Händel’s Messiah, Rutter’s Gloria, Gabrieli’s In ecclesiis, Mozart’s Requiem, masses by Haydn, and Orff’s Carmina burana, as well as numerous smaller-scale pieces ranging from the 16th century to commissioned works.
