Qualifications Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is a learning centered institution. Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. The Department of Music is a rapidly expanding unit of the School of the Arts, Media & Communication within the College of Liberal Arts. The Performing Arts Center, opened in April 2005, features a concert hall with flexible acoustics designed by Jaffe-Holden Acoustics, and is the principal performance venue of the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra, the Corpus Christi Chorale, and the Sparkling City Light Opera, as well as student and faculty performances. 


The Department of Music at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a non-tenure track position, a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music 
Voice: Soprano or Mezzo-soprano. One-year appointment beginning in the fall of 2013. 

A master's degree in vocal performance and/or vocal pedagogy is required at the time of application. Demonstrated ability to teach applied voice is required. 

Other desirable secondary areas include vocal pedagogy, diction for singers, and/or vocal literature. Evidence of ability to be a successful teacher, scholar, performer, and congenial colleague is required. Basic piano proficiency and demonstrated success in recruiting and retaining students are highly desired.  
Preferred Qualifications A completed doctorate in vocal performance and/or vocal pedagogy by the time of appointment is preferred.  
Job Duties The primary responsibility will be to teach applied voice lessons for both music majors and some non-majors. Secondary responsibilities may include teaching vocal pedagogy, diction, and/or vocal literature, depending upon the candidate's strengths and departmental needs. The successful candidate will be expected to work within a team-oriented departmental culture, and to undertake other duties according to the needs of the department.
