Choral Music of Dan Locklair Performed on April 27 and 29 by Bel Canto Company in Greensboro, North Carolina
Two movements from Dan Locklair’s changing perceptions & Epitaph, for SATB Chorus and piano, will be performed by the Bel Canto Company, Welborn Young, Artistic Director & Conductor, on Saturday, April 27 at 8:00 PM and Monday, April 29 at 7:30 PM at Christ United Methodist Church, 419 North Holden Road in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The movements are What Do We Know About Life (words by Carol Adler) and High Flight (text by John Gillespie Magee, Jr.). The composer writes. “changing perceptions, a five-movement choral cycle, was commissioned and premiered in 1987 by The Choral Art Society of Portland, Maine (Dr. Robert Russell, Music Director). Composed in memory of my father, Archie Greer Locklair (1916-1986), changing perceptions & Epitaph was the top prize winner of the 1989 Barlow International Composition Competition.” More about the piece at

Dan Locklair's music is widely performed throughout the U.S. and around the world. His catalog includes symphonic works, a ballet, an opera, chamber, instrumental, vocal and choral compositions. Widely sought after as a commissioned composer, musicians worldwide, including the Helsinki Philharmonic, the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Kansas City Symphony, the St. Louis Orchestra, the Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys of New York City and the Saint Paul’s Cathedral Choir of London have performed Dr. Locklair's music. Broadcasts of it have included Vatican Radio, Czech Radio, Radio Finland, NPR, the BBC and the CBC. Recordings of his works are available on Naxos, Ondine, Koch, Albany, Loft, Priory (UK) and other labels. His primary publishers are Ricordi and Subito.
