Discover the depth and breadth of Jewish choral music as Singers in Accord welcomes Dr. Joshua Jacobson to Minneapolis as guest director for Chorál Judáica, a celebration of Jewish musical traditions. Jacobson, one of the world's foremost authorities on Jewish choral music, will lead Singers in Accord in a concert program that will include music in classical, jazz and folk styles from the United States, Italy and Israel. The pieces, sung in Hebrew and English, will span the 17th through 21st centuries. Middle Eastern drumming, strings, clarinet and piano will provide the backdrop for this unique choral experience. The ensemble, prepared by noted Minnesota conductor Judy Sagen, will be joined by the Twin Cities Jewish Chorale, Cantor Scott Buckner from Adath Jeshurun Congregation in Minnetonka (May 2nd performance), Cantor Audrey Abrams from Beth El Synagogue in St. Louis Park (May 5th performance). The performances will also feature Judy Sagen and Bill Munson on piano, Dale Mendenhall on clarinet, Will Kemperman on percussion and Elizabeth Bell on violin. The American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) will cosponsor an "open rehearsal" with Dr. Jacobson from 6:00 - 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30th at University Lutheran Church of Hope (601 13th Ave SE, Minneapolis). Cost is $10 and includes a packet of concert music. Attendees may preregister online or register at the event. Concert Program
