It is with great sadness that I must share that my father, John Howell, passed away peacefully this morning.

 

For as long as I can remember, Choralnet and its discussion boards have been a source of great pleasure for him. He loved the community he found here, and the joy of discussing music with far-flung colleagues.

 

When I auditioned for Chanticleer in the late 90s, one of the first things Joe Jennings said to me (with a smile) was, "Oooo, your father's got an opinion about everything..."

 

Details of his funeral in Blacksburg, Virginia will be forthcoming, however, if anyone would like to share a story to help us remember him, I cannot think of a more appropriate place than here.
