Sounds of Stow Invites You to a Weekend of Song with Alice Parker

Alice Parker will be in residence at First Parish Church (353 Great Rd., Stow) with the Sounds of Stow Chorus on May 18th and 19th.  We feel incredibly privileged to have this opportunity to work directly with America's first choral "Director Laureate," so anointed by Chorus America for her "extraordinary leadership and significant impact on the choral field."

On Saturday, Ms. Parker will lead a workshop for all interested singers and directors in the morning, and will be working with singers from Sounds of Stow and several other area choruses who have prepared the material in a rehearsal that will be open for observation of her conducting technique in the afternoon.  Sign up by May 10, and get access to both the workshop and rehearsal observation plus lunch for $30.  For more information, see the sign-up sheet below or contact Heidrun503@gmail.com .

Join us on Sunday, May 19, for a presentation of both original works and choral arrangements by Ms. Parker, who will be leading Sounds of Stow and other area choruses in a concert at 4:00 p.m.  The performance also includes a "community sing," in which the audience joins the choruses in song: "there is no one who is not a singer when she leads."  Admission: $10.

Schedule:

Workshop: 9:30 to noon

Lunch and sharing time: noon to 2:00

Open Rehearsal: 2:00 to 4:00 Sounds of Stow and other area choruses will rehearse prepared materials to be presented in concert on May 19 (also under Alice's direction). Workshop attendees are invited to stay and observe the rehearsal. 

Venue: First Parish Church (Parish Hall), 353 Great Road (Rt. 117), Stow, MA. 

Fee: $30 (includes lunch).
