In our beautiful sanctuary we practice a blended form of worship led by clergy and laity with choir, soloists, a pipe organ and grand piano. Grace UMC wishes to hire an organist/pianist with the following skills and education:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in organ performance (preferred) or a Bachelor’s in church music with a concentration in organ.
Successful employment experience is preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Proficient piano and organ skills
Excellent music reader
Good personal skills such as punctual, personable, prepared, and a team-oriented work ethic
Knowledge, experience with, and appreciation of a broad repertoire of keyboard literature, from gospel to classics.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

Playing special and service music for the 8:30am Communion Service and the 10:30 Worship Service, including prelude, offertory, postlude and other appropriate music depending on the needs of that service and hymns. Accompany the Sanctuary Choir as needed in the 10:30 service.

Accompanying and playing the weekly rehearsal of the Sanctuary Choir

including anthems, solos, small ensembles and specials for a blended worship experience.

Leading service music each Sunday and for services on Christmas Eve,

Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Easter, Good Friday and special services or concerts.

Organist will be given first refusal rights for all weddings and funerals conducted at the church.

COMPENSATION:

Commensurate with experience and/or skill.

STARTING DATE:

July 21, 2013 or an agreed upon date thereafter.
