Ensemble Companio (Joseph Gregorio, director) is proud to announce its performance entitled America Singing at Grace Episcopal Church in Madison, NJ this Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 7:30 PM.

America Singing features music by Valerie Naranjo (arr. Ethan Sperry), Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber, Randall Thompson, Byron Adams, David Conte, and Joseph Gregorio; arrangements of American spirituals and hymns by Norman Luboff, Warren Martin, and Robert Shaw/Alice Parker, as well as shape-note music from The Southern Harmony and The Sacred Harp. Admission is $20 general, and $10 students / seniors.

Formed in 2011, Ensemble Companio comprises 24 accomplished choral singers from the northeast United States.  On the strength of a recording of its March 2012 debut concert, Ensemble Companio won the 2012 American Prize in choral performance.  The group's name derives from a Latin form of the word "companion," whose etymological meaning is "one with whom one shares bread."  Its name reflects its members' belief that partaking in choral music is an essential, nourishing, and healing endeavor, akin to the sharing of food.  Ensemble Companio's mission is to build interpersonal bridges through authentic, inspiring performances of the finest choral music.
