BRIEFLY: We are a 60-voice SATB Civic Choir located in Vancouver, Washington.

 

DETAILS: The Bravo! Vancouver Chorale has grown to become a 60-member ensemble and has established itself as one of the premiere civic choral groups in the Pacific Northwest. We have performed most of the major choral works of the 19th and 20th centuries, including Johannes Brahms’ German Requiem, J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, the Requiems of Mozart, Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Duruflé and Guiseppe Verdi, Joseph Haydn’s Te Deum and Creation, Beethoven’s Christ on the Mount of Olives, and Felix Mendelssohn’s St. Paul Oratorio to name just a few. The Chorale prides itself on its ability to perform diverse repertoire, and is equally at home performing jazz and popular music, as well as songs from Broadway musicals, American folk and patriotic songs, Negro Spirituals and more. The Chorale has toured nationally and internationally. In 2009, the Bravo! Chorale toured throughout Croatia with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, performing both American and Croatian folk, patriotic and contemporary repertoire. In October 2008 we produced a 5-city Pacific Northwest concert tour with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra from Dubrovnik Croatia. Concerts were performed in Portland, Vancouver, Olympia, Edmonds and Seattle. In July 2001 the Chorale engaged in its first national tour to Washington D.C. and New York City. Performances included concerts at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Concert Hall and at the 25th Anniversary National Pastoral Musician’s National Conference in Washington D.C. The New Washingtonians Jazz Orchestra from the Duke Ellington School for the Performing Arts collaborated with the Chorale on the tour. The tour concerts featured a program of American sacred music, including Ellington’s Sacred Concert. The Chorale has released two CD recordings: Hear My Prayer: The American Spiritual (a collection of classic Negro Spirituals and spirituals by contemporary American composers), and George Frideric Handel’s Messiah: An Oratorio, recorded live in concert.
