Training programs for children´s and youth choir conductors

Hello everybody,
I´m an Austrian choral conductor and doing research about training programs for children´s and youth choirs.
Does anybody of you have information of such programs/schools/university courses in the United States or around the world?
Thanks a lot!
Sincerely
Helmut

Helmut,
Since you are in Austria, you should REALLY check out the Kodaly Institute in Kecskemet, Hungary. They have a 3-week course this summer (every odd-numbered year), taught in English. They also have a longer program throughout the year. Their director, Laszlo Nemes, is an extremely fine children's choir director. He spent many years conducting the Hungarian TV/Radio Children's Choir. There are, of course, great courses in the U.S. as well. My favorite is Henry Leck's "Creating Artistry."

Hello Jena,

many thanks for your answer. You helped me a lot. But there is an other question, that I´m dealing with: Do there exist training programs for LEADERS/CONDUCTORS of children´s and youth choirs in the States? In Austria, we have one university (the one of Salzburg), that offers a two years course for the conductors of children´s and youth choirs and they are going to spread their offer around Austria with the knowledge from other similar training programs.

I really hope, you understand, what I´m trying to explain.
Many thanks in advance.
Helmut

Choral Music Experience (or CME) is the best! There are training courses in several places in the US over the summer.

Searching the net I I found a Master's degree in Conducting Children's and Youth Choirs in Hannover. I am not familiar with this program but the specialization it offers looks unique to me. You may want to check it out.

Choristers Guild has a series of three summer workshoops that lead to a certificate as a director of young singers.  For more information go to http://www.choristersguild.org/Choristers%20Guild%20Institute/about-CGI2013
