One Hit Wonders--"classical"Date: May 17, 2013 Views: 809
Planning a program for spring 2014 of pop tunes "One Hit Wonders:" groups that only had ONE big hit (there are many lists of these). Wondered if there are any "traditional" choral one hit wonders (like an arrangement of the Pachelbel canon) that would make a cool balance for the program. Any ideas? Can be instrumental adaptations or opera tunes as well.
Thanks much,
Dennis Pucci

Genuine Choral:
Gregorio Allegri's "Miserere"
Antonio Lotti's "Crucifixus"
Solos and Duets:
Leo Delibes's "Flower Duet," from Lakme
Ruggero Leoncavallo's "Vesti la giubba," from Pagliacci
Engelbert Humperdinck's "Evening Prayer," from Hansel and Gretel
Giulio Caccini's "Amarilli, mia bella"
Alfredo Catalani's "Ebben? Ne andrò lontana," from La Wally
Popular Adaptations:
Allan Sherman's "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah! (A Letter from Camp)," based on "Dance of the Hours," from Ponchielli's La Gioconda
Elvis's "Can't Help Falling in Love," based on Jean-Paul-Égide Martini's "Plaisir d'amour"
