Marin Girls Chorus seeks accomplished Artistic Director to lead this vibrant chorus of young female singers.
Marin Girls Chorus (MGC) is dedicated to providing excellence in music education to girls and young women in our community. Founded in 1988, MGC has grown into a dynamic group of over 150 girls in grades K-12. MCG has deep roots in the Kodály method of music education.  Please visit our website to see our Mission Statement and learn more about MGC:  www.marinchorus.org
Candidates will be expected to have an established reputation for excellence in artistic achievement with youth choruses; extensive knowledge of the standard choral and choral/orchestral repertoire and music of our time; skill as a creative and exciting artistic leader who is able to establish a strong rapport with young singers and serve as a model for life-long music appreciation; and to have a demonstrated ability to build on the organization’s reputation for excellence in music education.  Advanced degree strongly preferred, with an emphasis on Kodály techniques a plus.

The Artistic Director will be required to select music for and prepare a minimum of two full performance concerts per season, December and May.  Additionally, various community concerts and public performances are scheduled throughout the year which begins in September and ends the following June. The Artistic Director leads the chorus in participation in local choral festivals and in domestic or international choral tours each summer.

MGC is divided into Lower and Upper Divisions.  The Lower Division choirs are taught by two associate directors.  The Upper Division is the responsibility of the Artistic Director, with support of a paid accompanist, and consists of three choirs, upper elementary, middle school, and high school, which rehearse during the school year (late August – May)

The Artistic Director will report directly to the Marin Girl’s Chorus Board of Directors, and supervise artistic staff. Engagement will begin in early summer of 2013 with preparation for the 2013-2014 concert season.  This position is part-time and does not include benefits.
